HOUSTON - A popular Katy pie shop, that recently had to close it's doors, has a new lease on life thanks to another local restaurant chain. In April, the Proud Pie Bakery found itself in financial difficulty and some public-crowdfunding was able to help keep the place open. In early July, though, the money crunch proved too much and Proud Pie was forced to close.
Galveston man arrested with large quantities of drugs and stolen handgun
GALVESTON, Texas — A Galveston man was arrested after authorities found him in possession of significant quantities of drugs and a stolen handgun. On July 25, 2024, the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force and Galveston Police Department Special Operations Division executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 5000 block of Avenue K, according to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. Prior to the search, detectives observed 39-year-old Darrington Joiner, of Galveston, Texas, leaving the residence, leading to a traffic stop where Joiner was found with 34 grams of crack cocaine.
