Network issues hit City of Newton
NEWTON, Kan. — A global network outage that has disrupted business around the world has also affected City of Newton systems. The Utility Billing Office, Newton Municipal Court and Engineering Office are unable to take payments or access accounts. The software vendor hopes the outage will be resolved before the end of the day but is not able to estimate how long it might take.
🏀 Hutch High grad to compete in TBT this weekend
WICHITA, Kan. — Hutchinson High School graduate, Caleb Walker, will once again compete in The Basketball Tournament this weekend for the AfterShocks. Walker graduated from Hutch High in 2008 before going on to play two seasons at Butler Community College in El Dorado and then his final two seasons at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
Labor report delayed
TOPEKA, Kan. — The monthly labor report that was due out Friday that gives an update on unemployment across Kansas cannot be delivered. According to the Kansas Department of Labor, "due to a global issue affecting Microsoft and Crowdstrike services, the Labor Market Information Services will be unable to deliver the June Labor Report today. The report will be distributed at a later date."

Treasurer: Kansan scammed by government imposter
TOPEKA, Kan. — The Office of the Kansas State Treasurer has learned that a Kansas resident was the victim of a scam by a government imposter. The scammer contacted the victim via phone call and claimed to be a representative of the Kansas State Treasurer’s office. The victim was told that he had recently won a sizable sum of money from the lottery. The scammer then informed the victim that collecting his lottery winnings would require a payment.
Park benches a partnership effort
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Workers added two benches along the walking trail in Farmington Park on Thursday. The benches are the result of multiple partnerships with the neighborhood: the Hutchinson Breakfast Lions Club provided the benches, the Hutchinson Community Foundation gave a Changemakers at Work Grant to pay for the concrete pads (as well as additional trees for the park), and the City of Hutchinson - Government installed them.
