HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation has announced it is launching a housing program that will encourage physicians and healthcare providers to live in the community they serve.

At the end of the fiscal year, a budget of $750,000 was solidified to support the new program and initiative, which focuses on a three-year commitment from the provider in exchange for a housing incentive to purchase a home in Reno County.

“We have a lot of downtown or near-downtown properties that could use a little loving care, and so bringing in physicians and providing interest-free loans and forgiven loans after a certain amount of time sounded like a no-brainer to the board,” said Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation Board Past Chairman Bob Fee.

The idea is based on a similar idea in Kearney County.
