    15-year-old charged after leading police on pursuit

    HUTTONSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – UPDATE: The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on a vehicle pursuit that occurred on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the Huttonsville, Mill Creek area.

    According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, the driver and other individuals involved have been identified, and video and other evidence have been collected.

    Charges are pending against these individuals.

    The driver, a 15-year-old juvenile, will face charges for fleeing recklessly in a vehicle and on foot.

    A juvenile petition will be filed with the Randolph County Circuit Court.

    The juvenile will also receive citations for offenses including no operator’s license, no insurance, improper registration, and expired registration.

    An accident report will be completed due to a crash in Mill Creek.

    ORIGINAL STORY: Police are attempting to identify multiple juvenile and young adult suspects involved in a pursuit following multiple traffic violations.

    According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), on Saturday, June 22, 2024, police responded to reports of a Ford pickup truck spinning its tires near Huttonsville Par-Mar.

    The truck was occupied by multiple individuals. Additional calls reported the truck continuing to spin its tires and leave marks on the road.

    A deputy located a matching Ford pickup on McAtee Drive with individuals around it. He then activated his emergency lights and approached on foot.

    The driver fled, leading to a vehicle pursuit through Huttonsville and into Mill Creek, reaching speeds over 60 mph.

    Near Tygarts Valley High School, the truck nearly hit a pedestrian and later almost rear-ended another vehicle.

    The pursuit ended when the truck crashed near Pizza & Sub Shoppe, disabling a tire.

    The driver fled on foot, leaving behind a strong odor of alcohol and a bottle of Brandy in the vehicle, indicating DUI.

    The RCSO seeks public assistance in identifying the driver and passengers, particularly minors and young adults under 21, and requests any videos or photos of the incident.

    They urge witnesses to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
