Garlic Bread Recall Map Shows All 9 States Impacted
A range of garlic bread baguettes are being recalled due to the presence of undeclared allergens. Some 2,000 units of Lidl's "Chef Select 2 Garlic Baguettes Filled With Garlic Butter" have been recalled by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) due to them containing wheat and milk which were not declared on the label. Any of the nine major allergens specified by the FDA must be labeled on product packaging.
Forester from local area lauded for diversity achievements
Northern Virginia environmentalist Melody Starya Mobley has been named the 2024 Diversity Leadership Award recipient by the Society of American Foresters. Mobley was lauded for her efforts to connect a wider array of local residents to birding and other programming at local parks, including those of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (NOVA Parks).

New Rules for Farm Use Vehicles Begins July 1, 2024
~ Vehicle owners must purchase and display DMV-issued placard before July 1 ~. The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Virginia State Police (VSP) encourage farmers to ensure their eligible farm use vehicles are compliant with the new farm use tag required by Virginia law that becomes effective on July 1, 2024. The new law requires unregistered farm use vehicles to display a DMV-issued permanent farm use placard on panel trucks, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) under 7,500 pounds.

Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza still opening in former dry cleaner in Old Town North
After a construction delay, Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza is still planning to open in Old Town North before the end of this year, the company tells ALXnow. Construction started and then stopped at the building at 700 Slaters Lane, and will resume again in the next few weeks, according to Natasha Neely, a vice president for marketing for the company. Neely did not comment on the delay.
Regional gelato chain opens new location in Old Town
