Barre Historical Society holds Thursday forum on election disinformation
The Barre Historical Society invites the public across Central Vermont to a program this Thursday, July 18, on “Voting and Civics in the Disinformation Age.”. Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas will be the speaker for the discussion from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Copeland Hanzas will address the challenges to the election process for secretaries of state posed by Artificial Intelligence and disinformation and what citizens can do to recognize and prevent these threats.
North Country Hospital questions diagnosis
NEWPORT — More than 60 people, squeezed into the Gateway Center on the evening of July 9, to hear a consultant hired by the Green Mountain Care Board (GMCB), offer a prescription to improve the future health of North Country Hospital. The meeting was part of a process set in motion by the Legislature which passed Act 167 in hopes of making the state’s 14 hospitals more sustainable.
Colchester’s Bayside summer concert series to kick off with first show tomorrow
COLCHESTER — Colchester’s annual Bayside Park concert series is returning to town for the summer season starting tomorrow, with the first show to be held Thursday July 18. All concerts are held on Thursday evenings at Lower Bayside Park and begin at 7 p.m. with free admission and parking. The series’ host, Colchester Parks and Recreation, encourages attendees to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic dinner to enjoy live music on the lake.

Interstate 89 traffic stop leads to arrest on warrant in Milton

Killington Road to reopen Friday
On Friday, July 19, at 2 p.m. Killington Road will reopen to two-way traffic ending the three month detour up West Hill Road. “The road will be opened to two-way traffic, marked with barrels and cones.
