Harrodsburg Community Center Has An Exciting Summer Ahead
The Harrodsburg Community Center, formerly the YMCA, has been busy planning an exciting summer of opportunities for kids of all ages to stay active both physically and mentally. Lifelong Harrodsburg native Trevor Short officially began his work as executive director of the community center in February, and has been working to provide as many opportunities to the public as possible, while planning for some exciting future endeavors.

Hopkinsville man named associate pastor at historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta
A Hopkinsville man has been named an associate pastor at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta where civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. preached. The Rev. Donavan Pinner, who recently graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary with the Master of Divinity, will serve as the associate pastor for children and youth at Ebenezer. Pinner studied philosophy and religion at Morehouse College in Atlanta before enrolling at Princeton.
Metro Councilmembers give away portable AC units to families in need
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Several Metro Councilmembers came together to give out portable AC units to low-income residents who are living without air conditioning. District 21 Metro Councilwoman Betsy Ruhe started the project after the death of 17-year-old Christian Ruhekenya last summer. Christian died from carbon monoxide poisoning after going to sleep in a car when his family’s air conditioning went out.

Crystal Rogers case; judge makes decision on Steve Lawson’s charges
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On the ninth anniversary of her disappearance, there is an update in the Crystal Rogers case. Trial will move forward for one of the three men charged in the disappearance of Crystal Rogers. Defendant Steve Lawson filed a motion for his charges to be dismissed, claiming he was promised immunity when he talked to police. But a judge has ruled his statements and information were inconsistent and he did not meet the prosecutor’s requirements for the immunity agreement.
