Hill Fire Grows to 7,074 Acres, 8% Containment; Fire Activity Expected to Increase with Drier, Hotter Conditions
As of Tuesday morning, the Hill Fire burning 11 miles south of Willow Creek is listed at 7,074 acres with eight percent containment. Favorable weather patterns earlier this week helped fire crews “gain good positioning” on the fire and expand containment lines, according to the Hill Fire Incident Command team. However, fire activity is expected to increase over the coming days with rising temperatures and lower relative humidity.
Plane crashes, starts fire in Humboldt County
KNEELAND, Calif. — A plane crashed in Humboldt County and started a vegetation fire Tuesday morning, according to officials. The FAA says the single-engine Cessna 206 took off from Sacramento McClellan Airport and crashed near Kneeland Airport around 11:30 a.m. Two people were on board but their conditions are unknown.
