Kent Police officers – with assistance from the King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian 1 helicopter – arrested a 30-year-old Renton man on multiple charges on Thursday, Sept. 12, 204, after a domestic dispute escalated into a brief vehicle pursuit and hit-and-run collision.

Police said that at approximately 6:57 p.m. Thursday night, officers were dispatched to the 27400 block of 132nd Ave SW (map below) following 911 calls about a domestic dispute involving a weapon, according.

Multiple callers, including a 26-year-old female victim, reported a confrontation involving several individuals near a Buick in a parking lot, with at least one person armed.

Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate the parties involved or reach the victim by phone. A subsequent 911 caller reported that “all parties had left in the Buick,” raising concerns that the victim might have been abducted, police said.

Officers spotted the suspect’s Buick leaving the complex and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled recklessly. Out of caution for public safety, the officers discontinued the pursuit. The King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian 1 helicopter, which was nearby, located the Buick and informed Kent officers as it traveled on local roadways.

Guardian 1 observed the Buick collide with another vehicle near SW 272nd Street and 164th Ave SW. The driver and a passenger fled the scene on foot. The helicopter unit maintained visual contact and directed Kent officers to their location, where they were apprehended without incident.

The suspect was arrested on charges including felony harassment domestic violence, third-degree theft domestic violence for allegedly stealing the victim’s dog, unlawful possession of a firearm, driving with a suspended license, hit-and-run of an attended vehicle, violation of a no-contact order domestic violence, and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Investigators determined that the suspect had violated a no-contact order by threatening the victim and appearing at her residence.

No shots were fired during the incident, and the victim and her dog were unharmed.

“Nice Teamwork by this Patrol crew and awesome assist by KCSO Guardian 1. Thank you!” police said.

Individuals experiencing domestic violence are encouraged to call 911 or seek services through organizations such as DAWN at https://dawnrising.org/.
