Second suspect in custody after bald eagle shot and killed in northeast Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A second suspect is in federal custody after a bald eagle was shot and killed in northeast Nebraska in February 2023. Ramiro Hernandez-Tziquin, 21, of Norfolk, was taken into custody in June after he was caught using an assumed identity, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said.

GLENWOOD, Iowa — The Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa is now underway, as the 51st installment began in Glenwood along the Missouri River Sunday morning. The 7-day RAGBRAI will take riders on a southerly route across Iowa, making overnight stops in Red Oak, Atlantic, Winterset, Knoxville, Ottumwa, and Mt. Pleasant before arriving in Burlington Saturday to dip their tires in the Mississippi River.
Driver Charged in Incident That Damaged Vehicles, Poles Last Week in Storm Lake
A driver received multiple charges for striking several vehicles and damaging utility and light poles last Friday in Storm Lake. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 3:14 Friday afternoon in the 12 hundred block of Seneca Street. A vehicle driven by Cullen Cavanaugh of Storm Lake was involved in an accident with vehicles owned by Jose Catarino Hernandez of Storm Lake, Brittany Vanegas of Storm Lake, and Rodolfo Castaneda Ramirez of Aurelia, along with vehicles driven by Pamela Gorde-Wilson of Aurelia, and Johan Harms of Storm Lake. The vehicle driven by Cavanaugh also struck two electrical poles owned by MidAmerican Energy, and one light pole owned by the Fareway Store.
Third Annual Storm Lake Oktoberfest Celebration Scheduled
The third annual Oktoberfest Celebration in Storm Lake is scheduled for October 19th from 6 to 10pm at Lake Avenue Lounge. Free food will be offered while supplies last, as well as German beer.
