    3A/2A/1A STATE TRACK AND FIELD: Parma's Klahr wins two state titles

    Parma junior Chase Klahr claimed two state titles on Friday during the first day of the 3A Boys State Track and Field Meet at Middleton High.

    Klahr won titles in the shot put and discus, two events he finished second in at last year’s state meet. He had personal records in both events, throwing the discus 162 feet, 11 inches and launching the shot 53-08.25.

    Behind Klahr’s effort, Parma sits in fifth place in the team standings with 26 points, one out of fourth place.

    Melba’s girls team finished the first day in second place in the 2A meet with 27 points, just one behind leader Soda Springs.

    The Mustangs, the five-time defending state champions, got a win from the sprint medley relay team of Ella Stosich, Emma Dillbeck, Hayden Higgins and Brooklynn Dayley, who finished with a time of 1 minute, 53.14 seconds.

    Dillbeck also finished second in the high jump.

    Cole Valley’s Macie Kern repeated as pole vault state champion with a height of 10-06.

    In the 1A boys meet, Victory Charter’s Luke Stockett repeated as the 3,200 meter state champion with a time of 9:27.15. Notus’s Easton St. Germain also won the 1A title in shot put with a launch of 57-06.25.

    On the 2A boys side, Cole Valley got a state title from Chris Olson in the long jump with a distance of 21-09. Olson also finished second in the triple jump.

    In the 3A girls meet, the Weiser sprint medley team of Madilyn Wilkins, Bethany Walker, Abi Wilkins and Kailee Lerew won with a time of 1:51.54 while Fruitland’s Lydia Lindsey won the long jump with a distance of 18-09.
