NAMPA — Planes will take flight this weekend at the Warhawk Air Museum’s 22nd Warbird Roundup.

Running Saturday and Sunday, the two-day airshow features historic warplanes from across the country. The museum expects this weekend to be the biggest roundup ever, as the event grows every year, with more planes and more vendors.

In line with the museum’s mission of educating the public on military history, attendees can learn from announcers who will highlight the planes being flown. Attendees will also have the chance to meet the pilots flying that day and explore the museum.

A featured speaker, retired Air Force pilot Chris Fahey, served as an instructor and a forward air controller during Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Fahey will relay the history of the Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II.

Executive Director Carson Spear said Saturday’s show will start off with A-10s from the 190th Fighter Squadron. Spear does not expect wildfire smoke to impact flights this weekend.

Gates open at 8:30 a.m. with flying scheduled from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased ahead online at warhawkairmuseum.org/series/warbird-roundup-weekend . General admission costs $30 per day; weekend passes are available for $55. Children 14 years and under attend for free but must be accompanied by an adult.

Parking is expected to fill up fast, with nearby parking also available at the Mission Aviation Fellowship.

Parking is also available at Saint Alphonsus’ overflow lots where attendees can then take an event shuttle on North Sister Catherine Way to the event. The shuttle will run continuously from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. both days.

Attendees are encouraged to bring camping chairs and to dress for sunny weather.
