PRESTON, Idaho — For Collin Brackin, the Pizza Stop has been a life-long labor of love. The owner of the Pizza Stop restaurants in Preston, Idaho, and its new location in Smithfield, Utah, was born at the original Preston location 27 years ago.

“I was literally born into the business,” Brackin said proudly.

Brackin bought the business from his parents so they could enjoy retirement. The Smithfield resident said he saw a need for a new pizzeria in Smithfield, so he rented the building, located at 25 W. 100 N. in Smithfield, from some high school friends.

Brackin said he is continuing the tradition of his parents — who started the business at its original location in Preston — to make fresh, quality Italian food.

“Quality food is premium at the Pizza Stop,” Brackin said. “Great culture and great food make this a great business.”

He said the pizzas are cooked on stone, and the restaurant serves pizza, breadsticks, calzones, pasta, wings and salads. The pizza dough and sauces are made fresh in house, a quality he is proud of. He believes in promoting a positive culture and work environment for his employees.

“One of my objectives is to grow jobs in the community and great customer service,” he said. “We care about the details and our employees.”

Brackin answered additional questions for The Herald Journal.

    What is your biggest challenge?

We’ve been a family business for more than 30 years. Our dough and sauces are made fresh in house. Our quality sets us apart.
