SODA SPRINGS — Bear River Chiropractic celebrated its fourth annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday and the event was hugely successful.

One might think that the fact Southeast Idaho's weather rarely cooperates with Easter festivities was the motivation behind the indoor egg hunt at the chiropractic clinic and gym.

But Bear River Chiropractic owners, Dr. Jared Shelton and his wife Stephanie, said that wasn't the case.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed everything in 2020. Soda Springs tried to comply with state and national regulations yet still allow life to continue with as much normalcy as possible. Easter egg hunts were among the many events that were being canceled.

So the Sheltons teamed up with then Soda Sip owner Paige Bryam to hold egg hunts in Soda Springs in 2021. The hunts were held at staggered times so local kids could go to both.

The events were a big hit from the start.

As the egg hunt attendance grew, so did the egg count and soon even the Easter Bunny was showing up for photos with the children.

The Shelton family’s motto when it comes to this event is “All Hands on Deck.” They spent three weeks this year filling 2,500 eggs with treats and prizes. To show just how much the event has grown, the Sheltons had only 500 eggs at their first egg hunt.

This year's hunt also included 20 lucky golden tickets for big prizes.

Stephanie Shelton said, “The community enjoys going inside, knowing the weather will never mess up their egg hunt plans with their kids, like (Saturday) waking up to a snowstorm. We do it different than most. We don’t have a start line or say ready, set, go. The kids are able to just come in and wander, pick up their eggs, sit and enjoy their finds and see the extra prizes lying around. It’s fun to see them taking their time without it being a race. Each kid is allowed to take 10 prizes home so it’s fair for all kids. We have found it really makes it more enjoyable for kids and parents, especially if you have young toddlers.”

The Sheltons would like to thank Mountain View Dental for helping to sponsor this year's egg hunt.

Without a few good souls, who go above and beyond behind the scenes, the Sheltons said they couldn’t do what they do and give this opportunity to the community.
