    Wednesday, May 8Happy Hands Quilt Club will have its monthly meeting Wednesday, May 8, in the basement of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 215 N. 18th Ave. in Pocatello. Members and guests will gather at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

    Load ‘em in the Dark Cattle Company’s regular Wednesday night team roping from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Indoor Arena at the Bannock County Event Center in Pocatello. Admission is free.

    Winnie & Mo’s Bookshop, 343 A St. in Idaho Falls will host Silent Book Club from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8. Chat about books for about 30 minutes, and then find a cozy place to sit and read. You read the book of your choosing and get to connect with other readers.     Layne Bowen will perform live starting at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at the First National Bar, 232 W. Center St. in Pocatello.

    Wednesday through Saturday, May 8-11Musicians West will hold the 25th annual Piano Festival and Competition Wednesday through Saturday, May 8-11, on ISU’s campus in Pocatello.     Thursday, May 9The Yellowstone Restaurant, 230 W. Bonneville St. in Pocatello, hosts live jazz featuring Freddy Gildersleeve and rotating guests every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Y Lounge.

    Station Square, 200 S. Main St. in Pocatello, hosts open mic night every Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m.

    The Dead and Down will perform live starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the First National Bar, 232 W. Center St. in Pocatello.

    Thursday through Saturday, May 9-11The American Falls High School FFA Spring Plant Sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the American Falls High School Greenhouse, 2966 S. Frontage Road.

    Friday, May 10Tilden Co., 100 W. Bridge St. in Blackfoot, will host Girl’s Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 10. Tilden Co. will be hosting local vendors as well as having an exclusive sale. Light refreshments will be served as well as good music and plenty of space for hanging out with friends.

    Alex Jordan is scheduled to play at 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Downtown Event Center, 480 Park Ave. in Idaho Falls. Alex is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who has been surrounded by music his whole life. In 2014, Alex began touring regularly with Midnight North, adding the piano and Hammond B3 to his arsenal.     Deleta Skating, 520 Yellowstone Ave. in Pocatello, will host a Musical Theater and Dance Night from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, May 10. Skate and dance to some of your favorite musicals, and learn 3 easy and fun routines.

    Friday & Saturday, May 10-11The Palace Theatre, 158 E. Chubbuck Road in Chubbuck, will put on a production of Disney’s “101 Dalmatians KIDS” at 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, and at noon and 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11. Tickets can be purchased at palacetheatrearts.com/101dalmatians.

    Saturday, May 11The Bannock County Veterans Memorial Association and the Marsh Valley High School Business Professionals of America will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at the veterans memorial building, 300 N Johnson Ave. in Pocatello. Enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy and beverages. First responders in uniform eat free.

    The Portneuf Valley Farmers Market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through October at Lookout Point in downtown Pocatello.

    Idaho Fish and Game is celebrating 125 years of wildlife conservation at its annual Youth Outdoor Skills Day event. Come join in the fun from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Beaver Dick Park near Rexburg. The entire event is free and open to the whole family. Participants who take part in at least six skills booths will be entered into a drawing for prizes donated by local organizations. A free hot dog lunch will also be served while supplies last.

    Snake River Agriculture Expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 355 Centennial Way in Rigby. It is a vendor event focusing on providing an interactive, family-focused experience to share the benefits of agriculture to the community.

    Reading Time with the Queens will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Winnie & Mo’s Bookshop, 343 A St. in Idaho Falls. This month’s program is all about the magical, mystical creature that has captured the imagination of everyone from young kids to medieval scholars — the unicorn.

    Kind Community will host its inaugural cornhole tournament starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Hoku Plant Building A, 1800 River Park Way in Pocatello. Admission is $60 per team.     The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber will host a ribbon cutting for Grocery Outlet, 2455 E. 25th St. in Idaho Falls, at noon Saturday, May 11.

    The Wright Beerlay race is set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at 293 Cedron Road in Victor. You can do this in up to teams of five or individually. The race goes from Wright Training Victor to High Point Cider then to Grand Teton Brewery to Refuge Taphouse to Guidepost Brewery and the finish line is at the gym.     The Kyd J Band will perform live starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at The Union Taproom, 230 W. Bonneville St. in Pocatello. This band always packs the house so you’ll want to come early and grab a seat.

    Saturday & Sunday, May 11-12Pocatello Downs is back Saturday and Sunday, May 11-12, for more racing. Gates open at noon and the first post time is 1 p.m. Admission is $5, and children 12 and younger get in free. Concessions will be available.

    Sunday, May 12Jim Dandy Brewing, 305 E. Lander St. in Pocatello, will host Mother’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12. Moms get their first mimosa free.

    The Michael Carbonaro Show is coming to the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel in Fort Hall at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 12. Tickets run from $29 to $49 and can be purchased at shobangaming.yapsody.com.

    Monday, May 13The Pocatello Food Truck Round-Up is open from 4 to 8 p.m. every Monday at Lookout Point through September.

    The Black Rock Gold Prospectors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, in the downstairs of the Veterans Memorial Building, 300 N. Johnson Ave. in Pocatello. All interested are welcome to attend to get tips on panning, sluicing, dredging, demos, equipment and metal detecting. For more information, text 208-244-2633.

    The Bannock County Rodeo Association is hosting barrel racing on Monday, May 13, at the Bannock County Event Center’s Indoor Arena.     Tuesday, May 14It Takes a Village in Idaho Falls and Idaho Period Project will host a period packing party from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Pizza Pie Cafe, 3160 E 17th St., Suite 110, in Ammon. Hear from the Idaho Period Project about their mission and how you can help. Then get to work on their summer packs, ensuring every girl in Idaho who needs period products over summer break will get them.

    The Derek Hough: Symphony of Dance show is coming to the Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. Tickets can be purchased at tinyurl.com/4kwmwdmf.
