Idaho State Legislative seats will be filled come January 2025 and there are contested races for the District 30 Senate seat and two House of Representative seats during the GOP primary on May 21.

The question is, “Who do you want in those seats?” Now is the time to decide — and to vote.

    State Senate District 30:

Jerry Truth BinghamBingham believes in term limits and is against special interest groups’ influence. He also believes that big government always means losing freedoms, stating, “We’re losing our freedom one law at a time.” Bingham is a supporter of the Second Amendment and believes that “every life matters.” As a farmer he will protect water rights. His motto: “Vote Conservative, NOT Rhino.”

Julie VanOrdenVanOrden believes in a state balanced budget coupled with accountable “thoughtful and prudent” use of state funds. She states, “I strongly support parental involvement in education, I know the Second Amendment is a right that is never to be infringed and I am well versed in the agricultural needs of our community and state.” Her motto: “Honesty. Dignity. Hard Work.”

The winner of the GOP primary for District 30’s senate seat will face Democrat Karen Keith in the general election in November.

    House of Representatives District 30A:

David CannonCannon believes in cutting taxes and shrinking government size, “so that every dollar you earn goes further.” He is an advocate for “Common Sense Conservatism” that supports free market, private sector capitalism. He also believes that the “federalism pendulum” has swung too far towards federal control and vows to bring the power back to Idaho. His other top issues are infrastructure, healthcare and education.

Josh SorensenSorensen has, “A New Vision for Idaho’s Prosperity,” one that supports education, business development and local control instead of state regulations. He believes these three factors are, “keys to a prosperous and sustainable tomorrow.” Sorensen also believes Idaho’s economy improves by supporting both agriculture and new businesses.

    House of Representatives District 30B:

Ben FuhrimanFuhriman believes in the ‘Regan Conservatism and the big tent” and urges voters to choose common sense, traditional conservative Idaho values. He points to the importance of the party precinct committee men and women concerning the recent Republican party politics. Fuhriman’s focus is on five pillars — water, economy, taxes, security and education. Motto: Building a Brighter Future for Idaho.

Julianne YoungYoung stands for traditional family values, including being pro-life and pro-family. She is a fiscal conservative that supports the First and Second Amendments. The top issues she lists are education, sanctity of life, education and COVID-19 policy. Young believes, “our welfare is best protected when constitutional rights are protected and legislation is in line with true principles and moral values.”

The winner of the House of Representatives District 30B GOP race will face Democrat Breane Buckingham in the general election in November.
