Local voters nixed two of the three non-school ballot issues in Tuesday’s election.

The only measure that passed was the South Bannock Library District’s approximately $101,000 annual plant facilities reserve fund levy, which was also the only one of the three ballot issues that did not require a supermajority of voter support.

The library district’s levy was approved for another 10 years with 793 votes in favor and 519 against.

The Pocatello Valley Fire Protection District’s request to permanently increase its annual budget by $52,000 failed because it only achieved 64.4 percent support, just shy of the necessary supermajority it needed to pass. The final results for the measure were 199 votes in favor and 100 against.

The Moreland Cemetery District’s request to increase its annual property tax levy by $35,000 was shot down as well because it too failed to achieve supermajority support. The measure received 385 votes in favor, but this was only 63.85 percent support, while there were 218 votes against, or 36.15 percent.
