DOWNEY — The Bannock County Fair in Downey is set to start on Monday, continuing a century of tradition.

According to a news release from Bannock County, the fair will be held Monday through next Saturday, with this year’s theme being “Barnyard Beach Party.” Everyone is invited to show off their vacation wear and take part in an agriculture-based fair.

The fair will feature a variety of events that are sure to appeal to the whole family. There will be hypnotists, stock sales and cornhole tournaments. An assortment of food vendors will be available throughout the fair to satisfy fair food cravings.

There will be several favorite events returning to the fair this year, including trash cars, mini monster trucks and extreme ranch rodeo. For the first time ever, there will be events featuring sea lions, with shows Wednesday through Saturday.

Performers of all kinds will make an appearance this year. They include musicians Hartley Road and Cale Moon, comedian Todd Johnson, impressionist Mike Walker, hypnotist Tyzen and magician Louie Foxx.

The fair will start at 6 p.m. on Monday with the free potato bar that will be served by the fair board and Bannock County officials. There will be a parade through Downey beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday followed by a street dance down Main Street.

“Come see why the Bannock County Fair is considered the “best little fair in Idaho,” Bannock County said in its news release.
