POCATELLO — A local gown and formal wear store has reached its 10th year of service to brides, grooms and anyone else in need of formal wear.

Katrina Evans, who owns KATZ Weddings and Formal Wear with her husband, Brian, said they started their business at the farmer's market while they were planning their own wedding.

"We got our first storefront in 2014," she said. "It's two doors from where we are right now."

KATZ Weddings and Formal Wear is currently located at 150 S. Main St.

Evans said she and her husband moved locations several times throughout their ten years in business. They had locations in areas such as Yellowstone Avenue before moving to where they are today.

"Now we're back on Main Street," she said.

In honor of their ten years of service to the community, KATZ is holding a "KATZ for Kids" event all year long where people will have the opportunity to donate items into a box in the foyer of the building. They can do this from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This closet is not just for kids in the Pocatello and Chubbuck areas. They have had students from as far as 200 miles away who have come for this.

"The school district has a care closet that kids can use, but it's only available for certain days," Evans said. "This is for teachers to have in their classrooms at any time."

KATZ will also have a gown closet for students in the district who can't afford to buy new gowns or tuxedos for homecoming or prom. Students who use this closet are encouraged need to pay a donation. They will also need to pay a cleaning fee.

"They will have to have a reference from a teacher or counselor from school," Evans said.

KATZ offers formal wear for any occasion, including weddings, prom or homecoming dances. They offer gowns, tuxedos and other formal attire for these occasions.

"We have in-house tuxedos that are for rent," Evans said. "We can order in suits and tuxedos for sale."

Evans is proud that the business has been able to reach this milestone. She is proud of all the service they have done over the past ten years.

"We're excited to be here for ten years," she said.

The most rewarding part about operating the business has been providing their customers with wedding gowns and formal attire at wholesale price. Evans said they do not sell their clothing at retail price, which makes it more affordable. They are also the only place in 100 miles that offers in-house tuxedos.

"It's been rewarding to see the girls get into a gown that they want and to see the looks on their faces," she said.

Evans said they plan to have some kind of celebration to honor their anniversary. They do not have any details about what that would be at this time.

"We're in the stages of planning that right now," she said.
