    Lightning-caused wildfire burns 30 acres on Fort Hall Reservation

    FORT HALL — At approximately 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2024 a fire was reported in the Lincoln Creek District of the Fort Hall Reservation east of Blackfoot.

    The Fort Hall Fire Department (FHFD), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Wildland Firefighters, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and air attack responded. The lightning caused brush fire burned approximately 30 acres.

    According to FHFD Chief Eric King, the fire was contained at approximately 10:00 PM last night. BIA and BLM fire crews stayed on the fire overnight to keep it contained. The fire is expected to be fully controlled by 6:00 PM Friday, August 23.

    There are currently no injuries, evacuations or structural damage to report.
