The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 Board of Trustees recently approved a resolution to place a supplemental levy renewal on the November election ballot.

According to a news release from the school district, the proposed levy will provide $8.25 million per year for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years.

It will replace the current levy that is set to expire in June 2025.

The amount requested by the new levy is the same as was requested by the levy it would replace.

If the new levy is passed by a majority of voters, the district would receive a fixed amount of funding, regardless of increases or decreases in property values across Bannock County.

The school district stated the levy currently costs homeowners $113.07 per $100,000 of taxable assessed property value per year, based on current conditions, and is not expected to change if renewed.

The proposed allocation of the new levy's funds would include nearly $5 million for salaries and benefits, $925,000 for textbooks and supplies, $750,000 for instructional technology, $600,000 for extracurricular transportation, $575,000 for custodial services, $475,000 for extracurricular salaries and $200,00 for school resource officers.

The district's news release said the funds from the new levy would be used to provide high-quality education to the district's students. It has been renewed every two years by local voters for over 60 years.

More information about the levy can be found by contacting the school district at 208-235-3257. The district will release more information online by mid-September.
