POCATELLO — The Lower Ross Park Con Gilmore Pickleball Courts are now available for public use after a grand opening was held Tuesday morning.

Named after the long time Pocatello Parks and Recreation Director Con Gilmore, who was instrumental in the construction of the Ross Park Aquatics Complex and OK Ward Park, the five courts will be ADA-accessible and feature plexi-cushion acrylic surfacing and LED lighting.

Initially set to debut on Aug. 20, the grand opening was delayed due to heavy rain on the day before they were set to open, which caused damage to the final layer of paint. Now with a fresh coat and a few final adjustments, the courts are now available for public use.

Pickleball enthusiasts can now enjoy the new Parks and Recreation feature from dawn until one hour after dusk. The LED lighting will shut off at 10 p.m. A rotational system is posted on the courts for recommended use when the courts are in high demand.

Local residents will be able to enjoy the new, fast-growing sport in the beautiful Ross Park area and experience just one of the many fun, engaging Parks and Recreation features that have recently graced the Gate City.
