The date for the public hearing regarding the new proposed sign code has been set for 6 p.m. on Sept. 5 at City Hall, permitting local residents a chance to voice their opinion to the Pocatello City Council.

Since February of last year, the city has collaborated with business owners, elected officials, sign contractors and residents to rewrite the sign standards for the city. Overall, the standards and updated verbiage provides more clarity on rules, more on-premises signage, no time restrictions on portable signs or electronic message center curfews and provides two versions of code regarding off-premises signs, otherwise known as billboards.

“We encourage citizens to come voice their thoughts on the proposed sign code. If you can’t attend in person, written comments can be submitted to the Planning and Development Services department,” a city of Pocatello press release said.
