MONTPELIER — Bear Lake Memorial Hospital is proud to introduce our two new providers, Ben Olson D.O. and John Pymm D.O.

Dr. Olson has 17 years of orthopedic experience, is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and enjoys providing his patients with the most advanced and up to date care.

He is experienced with the utilization of robotic technology in joint replacement surgery. Dr. Olson’s goal of incorporating robotics in joint replacement is to improve precision, with a customized and balanced approach, as he seeks improved outcomes for his patients.

He has special interests in arthroscopic joint preservation of the shoulder and knee as well as joint replacement surgery of the shoulder, hip and knee. Dr. Olson has extensive experience with anterior total hip arthroplasty and is excited to offer this to the Bear Lake Valley.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Olson enjoys spending time with his wife Rachel and their 3 children. They enjoy serving in their church and participating in outdoor recreational activities. They are excited to be closer to family and friends and Dr. Olson is excited to serve the good people of Bear Lake and says, “We want you to have care here in Bear Lake.”

Dr. John Pymm offers full-spectrum family care and obstetrics services and brings a true passion for rural medicine to his work at Bear Lake Memorial.

After high school, Dr. Pymm served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina where he saw a huge need for health care providers.

“I immediately noticed the health care needs of the community. I desired to have more knowledge and skills that would allow me to help these people,” he said.

Upon returning to the USA, he enrolled at Brigham Young University-Idaho and started working as a certified nursing assistant. He then attended medical school at Des Moines University, followed by a one-year fellowship in Memphis, Tennessee, where he then stayed on as a faculty member for one year.

“My love for medicine only grew as I studied and worked,” Pymm said.

Dr. Pymm and his wife Renee Anne Lemire Pymm met at Brigham Young University-Idaho. They currently have four children: Isabelle, Zackarie, Amélie and Howard. They are so excited to make Bear Lake their home as Dr. Pymm pursues his passion for rural medicine.
