    PREP ROUNDUP: Highland girls soccer wins third straight game with shutout of Century

    Make that now three in a row for the Highland High School girls soccer team.

    The Rams had little trouble with their crosstown rival Century in a 5-0 win Tuesday on the road.

    Devree Bell led the way by scoring the final two goals of the game.

    Taryn Roth, Lucy Rhodehouse and Peyton Looney accounted for the other three goals in the win for Highland (3-2), which has now beaten Century (0-3-2) seven consecutive years running. Looney also had an assist on the day.

    It was deadlocked at 0-0 for the first 25 minutes of the game.

    BONNEVILLE 3, PRESTON 2

    Brooks Barrett and Brytlee Harris both found the back of the net in a nonconference loss for the Indians (2-3) Tuesday.

    BLACKFOOT 3, BURLEY 3

    Keanna Conrad logged a pair of goals, as the Broncos (0-0-3) scored three times in the second half to force yet another tie Tuesday in nonconference play at home.

    Shelby Mickelsen had the other goal for Blackfoot.

    CENTURY 1, BLACKFOOT 1

    Freshman Lizzy Hanson scored the Diamondbacks’ (0-2-2) lone goal in a tie on the road Saturday.

    Keanna Conrad logged the Broncos’ (0-0-2) goal.

    PRESTON 3, RIGBY 1

    Mackenzie Peters and Brytlee Harris logged a goal and assist apiece in a nonconference win for the Indians (2-2) at home Saturday.

    Jane Bell scored the other goal for Preston in the win.

    MARSH VALLEY 6, SOUTH FREMONT 0

    Sophia Harris and Isabelle Bastian tallied two goals and an assist each, as the Eagles (2-2) rolled on the road Saturday.

    Tayzlee Belnap and Olivia Medina scored the other two goals, while Paizley Crouch added a pair of assists in the win for Marsh Valley.

    BOYS SOCCER

    PRESTON 4, BONNEVILLE 1

    Adan Gonzalez chalked up two goals, as the Indians (1-4) earned their first win of the season Tuesday on the road.

    Abel Gonzalez and Jaxon Jorgensen scored the other two goals in the win for Preston.

    HIGHLAND 0, TWIN FALLS 0

    The Rams (2-1-1) didn’t allow a goal for a third straight game Tuesday on the road.

    No other stats were reported.

    MARSH VALLEY 5, FIRTH 0

    The Eagles (1-2-1) got their first win of the season Tuesday.

    No other stats were reported.

    RIGBY 2, BLACKFOOT 1

    Enrique Nevarez had the lone goal for the Broncos, (0-2) who remained winless after a loss on the road Tuesday.

    SKYLINE 10, POCATELLO 2

    Shayne Kennedy and Landon Rasmussen had a goal apiece, as the Thunder (0-3-1) suffered their worst loss in four years Tuesday.

    According to head coach George Asboe, Pocatello has many starters out with injuries right now. It has also yet to play a home game this season.

    VOLLEYBALL

    POCATELLO 3, BURLEY 0

    Abby Lusk chalked up double-double of 19 kills and 10 digs, as the Thunder cruised to a 25-17, 25-18, 25-19 sweep Tuesday night.

    Jakobi Nebeker nearly had a double-double herself with seven kills and nine digs. Adrie Johnson added a game-high 12 digs and Josie Haymore 28 assists.

    SNAKE RIVER 3, SUGAR-SALEM 0

    The Panthers recorded a 25-18, 25-23, 25-18 sweep on the road Tuesday night.

    Grace and Libby Gilbert tallied four kills and one block, apiece.

    Aydyn Anderson added a double-double of 13 digs and 10 assists in the win.

    CROSS COUNTRY

    HIGHLAND SWEEPS TERRY JONES INVITATIONAL

    The Highland boys and girls cross country teams both came away with wins at Thursday’s Terry Jones Invitational in Malad City.

    The boys dominated with just 35 points — 68 fewer than the next closest team. The girls, meanwhile, finished with 59 to beat Preston by 15.

    Cody Christiansen won the race with a time of 16 minutes and 30 seconds. Two other boys finished in the top-5 in Kash Jensen (16:58) and Spencer Smith (17:02) in third and fourth, respectively.

    Brynli Knudsen paced the girls with a fourth-place finish (20.26). Paige Sanford also placed in the top-10 in 10th (21:22.42).
