Pocatello native Taysom Hill of the New Orleans Saints has proven again and again that he'll do whatever it takes to help his team win.

Hill entered the league as a quarterback but he's gained a reputation for being a Swiss army knife who's a capable offensive threat from any position — just give him the ball.

That selfless attitude has resulted in the Highland High School legend being named one of the Saints' captains ahead of their season opener Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Hill said in a video interview posted on the Saints' website that the team voted to make him one of its captains earlier this week.

"To have an opportunity to represent this locker room and represent this team, it's hard to put into words but you know it means a lot to me," Hill said in the video interview. "I look back through my history here (in New Orleans) and I could list a number of players that have mentored me and made themselves available to me and I think as someone who's been in the NFL for a little while you know that's part of your responsibility to make sure that younger players know how to prepare for a game."

This is the first time in Hill's NFL career that he's been named a team captain.
