New hair salon Cut N Run Hair Co. opens in Blackfoot

BLACKFOOT — A new hair salon that specializes in giving its customers consistent, high quality haircuts has just opened in Blackfoot.

Tami Murdock, owner of Cut N Run Hair Co., said opening this salon has been something she has wanted to do since she started working in the cosmetology industry back in 1997.

"I've worked in every position in the beauty industry," Murdock said. "I was a hair stylist. I was a beauty consultant. I've done everything there is to do."

One thing that makes this hair salon different from others is that they only take walk-ins or customers can check-in online.

"It's totally different from any other salon," Murdock said. "We're kind of a niche salon."

Another unique feature at Cut N Run is the computer system that they have. When someone comes in for a haircut, details of the cut are entered into the system. When the customer comes in again, the system will pull up their previous cut.

"You never have to wonder if you're going to get the same haircut again," Murdock said.

The hair stylists who work at Cut N Run are people that have worked with Murdock over the years. She said each of them is capable of giving their customers high quality haircuts.

"Everyone is the best that I have worked with or known," she said.

Cut N Run is eager to serve the community of Blackfoot. Murdock said they will give discounts to certain people throughout the week.

"Mondays are veterans day, Tuesday is senior day, Wednesday is first responder day and teachers and students are Thursday," she said.

Another service the salon offers is a hair and scalp analysis. Customers will be able to come in and have Murdock analyze their scalp, and she will help them find the best products to take care of their scalp.

"We teach you how to take care of your scalp and hair," she said. "I know every hair product that is out there, and I know what they do."

Murdock hopes her business can become a safe place in the community where everyone can feel welcome.

"If we're having a conversation and any gossip comes up, we change the subject," she said. "We want everyone to feel comfortable coming back."

Murdock said she also hopes the salon can become actively involved in community events. They will keep signs that display events and other businesses in the community.

"We are a community-connecting space," she said. "We can grow Blackfoot as a whole into the best it can be."

Everything inside the salon from the mirrors to the security system was purchased somewhere in Southeast Idaho. They even partnered with local artists to show their work.

"We wanted to grow our local community," Murdock said. "We wanted to prove you can buy anything in Southeast Idaho."

Murdock looks forward to helping her customers look and feel their best through her haircuts.

"I love to give to the community and my guests," she said. "This is a vehicle for me to give love and accept love."
