A man was seriously injured during a dirt bike crash in southern Bannock County on Friday evening.

The incident was reported around 8:30 p.m. when the man crashed his dirt bike on a trail in the Mill Creek area near the Bannock-Oneida county line.

The man’s leg was impaled by a tree branch during the incident, authorities said.

Bannock County Search and Rescue, sheriff’s deputies and Downey Emergency Medical Services responded and soon located the man.

The Portneuf Medical Center helicopter also responded to the incident but the decision was made to transport the man via ground ambulance to PMC instead of air.

The man’s name and condition have not been released.
