The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is seeking feedback from the public on its Idaho Transportation Investment Program (ITIP) draft.

“With the growth of traffic accelerating the need for improvements and the impacts of inflating costs since 2020, the added annual investment in highway pavement and bridge repairs proposed in this draft ITIP plan will provide the Idaho Transportation Board effective options to consider looking ahead for Idaho,” Chief Deputy Director Dan McElhinney said.

The document outlines the state’s transportation priorities through 2031 and guides investment decisions. It includes $6.9 billion in funding. A total of $100 million will be dedicated annually to bridges and $200 million dedicated to pavement.

    Large-scale interstate improvements projects include:

The U.S. Highway 12 Greer to Kamiah project in Clearwater and Lewis Counties will rehabilitate and resurface the existing roadway and make drainage improvements. Construction will begin in 2028.

The Rapid River Bridge to Riggins project on U.S. Highway 95 will improve curves and install shoulder barriers. Construction will begin in 2031.

Comments are due July 31. ITD will review the comments in September and incorporate feedback when appropriate. In October, ITD will submit the ITIP to the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
