Why this is the preseason Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Projection

Washington State and Oregon State will be up for several of the bowl slots occupied by the former Pac-12 teams, but those will likely be taken up teams from the Big 12 or Big Ten.

The Famous Idaho Bowl would normally get someone from the Sun Belt or the MAC, but if it can get Washington State - or Oregon State - to go against a Mountain West team, then … that makes too much sense, but we’re going with it anyway.

Air Force, Wyoming, and Colorado State would all be in the mix, but UNLV - who we think will take a wee step back but still be bowl eligible - is the early call, partly because the two don’t play in the regular season.

The Cougars play Wyoming and Fresno State, and six other Mountain West teams.
