Idaho drivers should look out for road closures coming to Interstate-84 and downtown Boise this weekend.

On Sunday, the blocks around the record exchange and the Arthur will be closed: Main and Idaho Streets from 11th to 12th streets, and 11th and 12th streets from Idaho to Main streets, the Ada County Highway District said on social media. Those closures are due to work related to a new development — but are only slated to last a few hours.

“A helicopter will be delivering materials on the top of the building,” the highway district said. “The roads will reopen once the work is finished, which is expected to be by the end of the day.”

Also starting Sunday, the Idaho Transportation Department will be closing parts of Interstate 84 between Meridian and Nampa for work on the future interchange of State Highway 16 and I-84.

From Sunday at 9 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m., eastbound I-84 will be closed between Garrity Boulevard and Ten Mile Road, with traffic detouring down Franklin Road.

Starting Tuesday at 10 p.m. until Wednesday at 6 a.m., westbound I-84 will be closed between Ten Mile Road and Garrity, with traffic detouring down Franklin Road.

However, nighttime lane restrictions on I-84 will continue through September — but with at least two lanes open in each direction. At night, the speed limit will be lowered to 45 mph.

The expansion of Highway 16 will bring another North/South connection through the Treasure Valley, eventually connecting Emmett and I-84, according to previous Statesman reporting.
