This decades-old Boise chain had six restaurants. As of a week ago, make that five

A familiar pizza chain in the Treasure Valley now has one fewer restaurant.

Chicago Connection recently closed its store at 1545 E. Iron Eagle Drive in Eagle. The pizzeria shared the news preemptively on its website , letting customers know that it would “be leaving this location effective Sept. 16.”

The restaurant had operated for 12 years, according to the message, which added, “we are looking for a location to better serve you.”

If you’ve lived in Idaho for more than a minute, you’ve heard of Chicago Connection. The brand was founded in Boise in 1982, its website says.

Ordering weekend deliveries years ago, I enthusiastically crushed the chain’s pepperoni pizzas way too often. But, as seems to be the case with so many pizzerias, the product has — to my taste buds — changed over time. Windy City “connection” or not, this ain’t Lou Malnati’s . Still, Chicago Connection always has been known for deeper-dish pizzas that don’t skimp on the cheese.

The Eagle restaurant rated 3.0 out of 5.0 stars on Yelp and 4.1 out of 5.0 stars on Google.

The remaining locations are at 310 N. 4th St. and 7070 W. Fairview Ave. in Boise, 1935 S. Eagle Road and 1752 W. Cherry Lane in Meridian, and 523 12th Avenue Road in Nampa.
