Boise crews contain Warm Springs vegetation fire, will stay overnight for safety

The Boise Fire Department worked quickly Wednesday afternoon to combat a 10-acre brush fire near East Starview Drive, according to the department.

Crews gained partial control over the fire by 4:45 p.m., roughly an hour after it started, according to Ada County Dispatch. Fire crews then said the blaze was contained in a post on social media at 5:30 p.m. Crews were remaining on scene to “mop up hotspots,” the post said.

Some fire crew members would stay on hand overnight “to ensure it doesn’t reignite,” a spokesperson later told the Idaho Statesman.

There were no injuries reported and no structures damaged.

Officials asked drivers to avoid the area near the East Warm Springs Avenue and East Barber Drive intersection near the Warm Springs Mesa neighborhood.

“Initially, two houses were threatened, but firefighters worked quickly to protect them,” the fire department said in an earlier social media post, which noted that no evacuations were ordered.

Ada County sent out a Code Red Alert to those who live in the area.

The emergency response included five fire engines, four brush rigs and one water truck, as well as a dozer.

Ada County Dispatch said officials didn’t yet know the cause.
