Thomas Randall Miller is 78 years, and his six years in the U.S. Army are more than 50 years in his rearview. That doesn’t make them any less memorable. Miller, who moved to Russellville in October 2020 to be equidistant from his daughters, graduated from high school in 1963 and got into the trucking business. The draft was on the horizon. “I knew eventually it was going to happen, and ’68 was the worst year for the Vietnam year,” he said. “We knew it was coming.” Miller said he was willing to serve. “I was kind of looking forward to the Army,” he said. “My dad served in World War II in the Pacific Theater, and I’ve always appreciated the armed services and had no problem with going.”

Firefighters Respond to Call in Trion, Georgia
Multiple fire departments responded to a shed fire on Spring Creek Road in Trion, Georgia on Sunday morning. That call came in at around 11:15am and with the Trion Fire Department soon responding they arrived to find a shop building in the 4000 block of Spring Creek Road already fully involved. Firefighters from both the Trion and Summerville and Hays Correctional Fire Departments extinguished the fire, and also managed to stop it from spreading to any other structures.
