CROSS VILLAGE — A two-car accident on Saturday left six people injured near the Blissfest grounds, according to a press release from the Emmet County Sheriff's Office. At approximately 6:23 p.m. on July 13, the Emmet County Sheriff's Office responded to an accident at the intersection of State and Division roads in Cross Village Township. The intersection is about two and a half miles away from the Blissfest grounds, where the annual summer music festival was taking place.

The memorial has been a talking point since the municipality started gathering ideas for the former airport in 2022. The most recent design, with a budget in the neighborhood of $275,000, uses the airplane as a focal point. It's a scaled-down version of previous plans, which had estimated costs of $3-4 million.
