Chino Hills Hosts Popular Halloween Celebration with Trick-or-Treating
The City of Chino Hills welcomed thousands of community members for their annual Halloween Celebration at The Shoppes at Chino Hills on Oct. 31, 2023. The city hosted this event to foster a “fun and safe environment” for children to trick-or-treat and participate in activities, including arts and crafts, games, and a costume contest. Most of the shops, from Bath and Body Works to Panera Bread, distributed candy, with certain storefronts generating lines of about 50 trick-or-treaters.
Personalized Breast Cancer Screening for Black Women
For women in the U.S., breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer deaths. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), Black women have the highest death rate from breast cancer. Researchers partially attribute this to the fact that about one in five Black women with breast cancer have triple-negative breast cancer, which is more than any other racial or ethnic group.
Little Teeth, Big Responsibility: Raising Awareness for Children’s Oral Care
First 5 San Bernardino (F5SB) and Smile SBC were recognized by the National Association of Counties (NACo) in the health category for the “Little Teeth, Big Responsibility” comprehensive campaign designed to raise awareness about the importance of and need for proper oral hygiene and twice-yearly dental visits for children five years of age and younger. The county received special recognition for deploying the oral health program in English and Spanish.

Remembering Eliza Daniely-Woolfolk: Advocate for Domestic Violence Victims
Eliza Daniely-Woolfolk who lived a fulfilling life of service to her family, friends and surrounding communities, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Among her many contributions to the community was her long and committed leadership as CEO of Alternatives to Domestic Violence (ADV), a multi-service agency serving the western Riverside County. Her relationship with the agency dates back 26 years to 1997. Under her stewardship, ADV evolved and expanded to provide a continuum of services ranging from prevention, to crisis intervention reaching thousands of domestic violence victims and their families.

Shakeara earned her B.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland College Park and her master’s degree in City/Urban regional planning from Georgetown University.
