Yeso fire update: Crews transition to containment work
Carson National Forest fire crews are securing the Mestenas Canyon Fire, about 10 miles southwest of Dulce on the Jicarilla Ranger District, according to a news release. The fire, caused by lightning and first reported July 11, has spread to 650 acres. Containment is at zero, and crews are taking various actions to secure the line and prevent the fire from spreading. Despite complete ignitions, some residual smoke may be visible this week.
