Connor explained to the Massachusetts State Lottery Officials that the numbers he would play was a combination of his wife’s old landline phone number from when they first started dating, along with her favorite number as well. After playing a round of golf at Hillcrest Country Club last Wednesday, he went and purchased the winning ticket. He discovered he won the jackpot when he was in Maine over the weekend with his family. Connor said that when he woke up Sunday morning, he went right to the app on his phone and then went straight to his car to go get his ticket to make sure that he had the correct numbers. Connor said that with his winnings, he plans to buy socks.

A three-vehicle collision on Labor Day Monday has taken the life of a Napoleon woman. The accident took place at the intersection of U.S. 24 and Henry County Road 17-D, outside of Okolona. The Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 1:23pm on September 2nd, when 90 year old Harriet Schroeder of Napoleon was southbound on road 17-D. Schroeder stopped at the intersection of U.S. 24, but her vehicle was struck from behind, by an auto driven by 38 year old Christopher Borstelman of Defiance. The collision pushed the Schroeder vehicle onto U.S. 24, where it was struck by a westbound semi, driven by an Ontario, Canada man. Harriet Schroeder sustained critical injuries in the accident; and was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, and Christopher Borstelman were both treated at the scene, and released. The Highway Patrol reports alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.

Authorities said the suspect shot three people in one car and then one person in a second car on a Blue Line train heading to Forest Park. Police were called around 5:30 a.m. on Monday (September 2) after the train pulled into the 711 Desplaines Avenue stop.
