Snoop Dogg made sure he was front and center for the inaugural breakdancing competition at the Olympic games in Paris.

On Friday, August 9, the commentator for NBC Sports walked into the Place de la Concorde to the tune of his 2004 hit "Drop It Like It's Hot." He carried the coup de baton in his hand and prepared to bang the wooden instrument on the floor to officially kick off the event. He slammed the baton on the floor twice before he did a slick move for the final pound to the ground.

B-Boys and B-Girls from all around the world will compete for a gold medal this weekend for the first time in Olympic history. According to the Olympics' official website , the competition will have two breakers face off in one-on-one battles for two rounds. The battles happen in front of a panel of nine judges that comprise of respected dancers from the breaking community. Each judge will vote on the winner based on creativity, personality, technique, variety, performativity and musicality.

The two best breakers of each group will advance to the quarterfinals a.k.a the “knockout” stage. Each competitor will be seeded into a bracket where the lowest seed goes against the higher seed. The winners from each battle move on to the next round. The B-Girls competed first on Friday, and the B-Boys will hit the stage on Saturday.
