    USA's Masai Russell Wins 100-Meter Gold In Photo Finish

    American sprinter Masai Russell won gold in a photo finish at the women's 100-meter hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday (August 10).

    Russell, 24, won gold in her first ever Olympic event by a margin of .01 seconds at 12.33. France's Cyréna Sambra-Mayela took silver at 12.34 and Puerto Rico's Jasmine Camacho-Quinn took bronze at 12.36. The University of Kentucky standout was nicknamed the 'Olympic Debutante' entering her first Olympic games having finished first at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in the same event with a time of 12.25, a personal best, to qualify. Russell's personal best time at the U.S. Olympic trials is the fourth-fasted time ever in the women's 100-meter.

    Masai previously finished third in the 2023 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to qualify for Team USA at the World Championships in Budapest.
