After swabbing the inside of a slot on a knife block, he cultivated what was on the swab in a petri dish and tons of bacteria wound up growing.

Plenty of commenters expressed disgust , with many writing "gross" and others lamenting about how they were left "feeling sick." According to Delish , wooden knife blocks can be a breeding ground for E. coli, Salmonella and Staphylococcus because the shape of the blocks trap moisture and sometimes crumbs and food particles. Not surprisingly, it is recommended to clean in those crevices and let them dry regularly.
