Michael Rubin defended Drake while clearing up the misconceptions about his annual white party.

The Fanatics CEO stopped by The Breakfast Club on Wednesday morning, August 14, to talk all about his upcoming Fanatics Fest NYC. During the conversation, the crew brought up his high-profile Fourth of July all-white party in the Hamptons. The event has attracted the likes of JAY-Z , Beyonce , Tom Brady and other famous celebrities and athletes. While Drake was at the party, a rumor spread that the DJ was told to not play Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us." Guest co-host Loren LaRosa asked Rubin if the rumor was real.

"It was true," Rubin confirmed. "Drake's [been] my friend for a long time. I'm not going to invite him and have — look he's obviously going through a little bit of a battle right now. I'm not gonna have him come there.. I just didn't think it was appropriate so I sent a note and said 'Hey let's not play anyone's music that's feuding with anyone there."

The rumor was one of several viral moments that emerged from Rubin's white party. This year's event featured performances from Lil Wayne , Mary J. Blige , and Shaboozey , who all shut down the stage by performing their classic hits. Megan Thee Stallion , GloRilla , Machine Gun Kelly , Bryson Tiller , A$AP Ferg , and Travis Scott also performed during the after-party. As usual, Rubin posted photos from the event that show off all the stars in attendance. However, photos of Rubin hugging Lil Baby from the back at last year's party sparked plenty of nasty jokes from trolls.

"I think that was pathetic. I think it was a joke," Rubin said. "You know what I hate? Watching a Black person try to take Black person down. That's f**ked up. Lil Baby is one of the best human beings in the planet. There's not a person who will always do more for his community, who's a great human being, who works his ass off. Here's what happened with Baby. Baby did great and then people came for him."
