Katy Perry 's team recently responded to the Spanish government's claim that the music video for the artist's new single, "Lifetimes," was filmed on "ecologically sensitive sand dunes without permission."

According to the New York Post , the "Dark Horse" hitmaker filmed her latest masterpiece "at the dunes of S’Espalmador" located on the island of Formentera, which the country considers a "protected" natural area.

The singer's label, Capital Records, was first to respond to the police probe, assuring that they secured "all necessary permits for the video" ahead of its release. A spokesperson told The Post that there was only one loose permit at the time of production, but that the team was told to proceed anyways.

"We have since learned that one permit was in process, although we were given verbal authority to go ahead . Our local crew on July 22 applied for a permit for this specific location with the Directorate-General For Coasts And Coastline. We adhered to all regulations associated with filming in this area and have the utmost respect for this location and the officials tasked with protecting it."

After all legalities were allegedly in order, the music video was filmed on July 27. Then, a few weeks later, on Wednesday (August 14), the "environmental department of the Balearic Islands" maintained that the production company fronting the project did not in fact receive permission to film on the dunes.

The department assured that the incident wasn't a "crime against the environment, but rather an infringement" on Perry's end. The Post mentioned that the dunes in question are marked off by a rope and are currently being assessed for damages by the Spanish government.

Perry herself has yet to publicly speak out about the supposed "infringement" as she readies to release her highly-anticipated forthcoming album , 143 , slated for release this fall!
