Chase Rice delivered a stunning rendition of a classic Garth Brooks ballad when he joined brothers Dan and Reid Isbell on a recent episode of God’s Country .

Together, the trio performed an acoustic cover of “The Dance,” a heartfelt song that Brooks debuted in 1989. It remains one of the most beloved hits of the Country Music Hall of Fame member’s career: “And now I'm glad I didn't know/ The way it all would end/ The way it all would go/ Our lives are better left to chance/ I could have missed the pain/ But I'd have had to miss the dance.”

“Chase tells the story behind his latest Barrett Jackson purchase, and the reason he chose that truck. The guys dive in on Western hunting, backpacking, and Chase shares some great stories recapping his time elk hunting. Chase unpacks his new album and what he hopes his fans get from it, since it is a new sound for him,” the Isbell brothers also noted about the podcast episode.

Rice announced his new album earlier this month. Go Down Singin’ follows I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell , an album that featured a photo of Rice’s late father as the cover art. Now, Rice appears to pay tribute to his father by striking a similar pose for the album artwork of Go Down Singin’ . So far, Rice has released the title track, “Fireside” and “Haw River” from the upcoming project. It’s set to release on September 20.

“There’s a lot of different things that have happened to lead to this album, the album cover and this music,” Rice said when he announced the album. “It’s my first release in over 10 years as a fully independent artist. All we thought about when making this music was how do we put the very best songs that I’ve got on one album. No thoughts of what’s popular right now, or what will work blow up or go viral, simply who am I and what am I best at. It’s got songs about the music industry and what it can do to your soul, it’s got love lost songs, it’s got a song about my dad once again, it’s even got a murder song that might be my favorite song on the album. I hope you guys love this as much as I loved making it.”

Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke Combs , Miranda Lambert , Scotty McCreery , Jon Pardi , Lainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast this year. Guests appearing on the show so far include HARDY , Dustin Lynch , Colbie Caillat and others.

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched . They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”

The iHeartPodcasts/MeatEater show is available anywhere you listen to podcasts, including in the iHeartRadio app. Select country stations will broadcast the show between 7-11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday evenings. Find God's Country here .
