Watch Shania Twain Reunite With 'Sweet' Friend On Stage After 40 Years

Shania Twain reunited with a friend after four decades.

The global country star shared a video of that heartfelt moment she and her friend, Gloria , shared on stage during a recent concert. Twain, who will celebrated her 59th birthday on August 28, said she was nearly 18 years old when she was on tour in Newfoundland. She said she and Gloria formed a “very quick, sweet friendship,” and remembered Gloria as a “very kind” local who showed her around.

Twain embraced Gloria in a hug as she invited her friend of about 40 years to the stage, and Twain exclaimed that she still has a polaroid photo of the two of them together when they first met.

“You were so kind to me,” Twain told Gloria on stage. “And I never — listen, so on these tours, when you’re the only girl in the band, you never meet any girls. The only girls you meet are the girls that are trying to hook up with the band. And so, it was just very odd that I met a girl friend, someone that I connected with, who wasn’t out to jump one of the guys. …Gloria invited me over. I stayed at her house. She treated me like one of the family. She took me around a little bit. She took me to one of the beaches…but the funny thing is, is that I’m still doing exactly the same thing as I did when I met you. I’m still in Newfoundland on a stage singing.”

Twain wrote in her caption when she shared a video of her reunion with Gloria on Instagram that she was on her first-ever tour and her first time away from home. She said “the hospitality and sentiment of Newfies is unmatched,” as she reflected on her story with Gloria and returned there again for a performance over the weekend. Soon, Twain will return to Las Vegas for the next set of dates in her COME ON OVER Residency. The next show is set for Friday (August 23).
