Simone Biles , the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, shared an Instagram post showing support of the Chicago Bears and her husband Jonathan Owens while wearing the jacket that caused controversy among NFL fans over the weekend .

Biles, 27, posed in a jacket with Owens, 29, from the previous season when he played for the Green Bay Packers, the Bears' arch viral, as well as the team's logo, after several NFL fans pointed out the irony.

"'Bear down,'" Biles wrote in the caption of the photo.

Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel shared a photo of Biles wearing the jacket, acknowledging that it was "obviously" in support of Owens, but did feature the rival Packers' logo.

" Simone Biles on the sideline for The Bears game today…in a Packers jacket," Daniel wrote on his X account, along with a photo of Biles. "She’s obviously supporting her husband Jonathan Owens and she’s one of the greatest Olympians so she gets a pass…but it’s still one of the oldest rivalries in all of football & she’s rocking #GoPackGo logos lol."

Several other X users were less forgiving, with one person claiming Biles was "ridiculously unaware" of her "surroundings and insulting to her husband," while another said she she should "throw that jacket in the trash ASAP."

Owens signed a two-year deal with the Bears this past offseason after spending one season with the Packers, four with the Houston Texans and his rookie season with the Arizona Cardinals after going undrafted in 2018. The 28-year-old made 11 starts and appeared in all 17 regular season games for Green Bay in 2023, recording 84 tackles, two tackles for loss, three pass deflections and one fumble recovery returned for a touchdown.

Biles brought her Olympic career total to 11 medals won across three games earlier this month, winning gold in the women's team final, the women's individual vault final and the women's individual all-around final, becoming the first American to ever the event win twice, having previously won the all-around during her Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.
