Lil Durk is putting his faith above the gang life he once lived.

On Sunday, August 18, Durk uploaded a new photo of himself to his Instagram timeline. He looks down in the image, but he appears to look healthier than ever. In his caption, he declared, "Don’t label me nothing outside of A MAN A FATHER and A 1000% Muslim." He expanded on his thoughts in an Instagram Story. In it, he emphasized that he's no longer involved in gang life due to his Muslim faith. He also encouraged his fans to follow him during his "new chapter in life."

“I don’t gangbang I’m a Muslim,” Durk wrote . “Basically what I was saying on my post in so many words you can’t do both ima be the one who say it. So if you follow me as a brother, a friend, an icon, follow me to my new chapter of life. When I make music I rap what I seen and been through not telling you to go do it HUGE difference the music won’t change but my life goals will.”

Lil Durk has been a Muslim for quite some time. His life has changed drastically since he first confirmed his faith in 2020. He lost his good friend King Von and his blood brother Dontay "DThang" Banks Jr to gun violence. He also experienced health issues of his own. He recently overcame health challenges that once kept him off the stage. Earlier this year, the Chicago native opened up about ditching his substance abuse during his time in rehab . Durk didn't go into detail about his stay in rehab, but he did explain how the experience helped him.

"I want to embrace it because it helped me a lot," Durk said into the camera. "I want people to not run from it or be shy from it. My main goal is peace and being with the family and staying out of bulls**t. I see myself staying on track and changing a lot of lives."

Prior to his stint in rehab, Lil Durk had plenty of success with his smash hit "All My Life" featuring J. Cole . In the song, the 31-year-old specifically said he was trying to change his image. The song topped several charts last summer and even helped Durk win his first-ever Grammy award for Best Melodic Rap Performance.
