Bunnie Xo shared a vulnerable message with Miranda Lambert when she hosted the powerhouse singer-songwriter on the latest episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast.

Bunnie, the podcast host who is married to award-winning artist Jelly Roll , said one of Lambert’s songs helped her through the loss of her father earlier this year. Bunnie posted a tribute to her late father on May 8, following his battle with cancer. She remembered her father as “my favorite rock star” and “my hero.” She shared with Lambert that she got through heartache while listening to “The House That Built Me,” a single that appeared on Lambert’s Revolution album in 2009.

“‘ The House That Built Me ,’ by the way, when my dad passed away in May, was the only song that got me through,” Bunnie told Lambert on Dumb Blonde (warning: language) after talking about Las Vegas, where Lambert performed her residency, Velvet Rodeo. “I think I cried my eyes out for like a month straight with ‘The House That Built Me’ playing in the background.”

Lambert said the heartfelt balled is “such a blessing. it’s just one of those songs you’re so thankful to have.”

“It is beautiful,” Bunnie replied. “If you listen to the words, you literally paint a visual in this song, and you just walk people through, just a moment in your life, a snapshot in your life. And thank you for that.”

Throughout the conversation, Bunnie spoke with the Texas-born artist about her music, her childhood, how she addresses burnout while she’s on tour, the importance of supporting the next generation of female artists in country music, how she met husband Brendan McLoughlin , and much more. The Dumb Blonde episode — hailing Lambert the “Queen of Feminine Rage” — arrives as Lambert gets ready to release her new album, Postcards from Texas . So far, she’s released “Wranglers,” “Dammit Randy” and “Alimony” from the upcoming record, which includes a collaboration with fellow Texan, Parker McCollum . Lambert’s tribute to her home state is “honky tonk as hell.” It’s set to release on September 13.
