Wale is impressing sneakerheads everywhere with his long-overdue joint effort with Nike

On Monday, August 19, the Washington, D.C. native debuted his new sneaker. The Nike Air Foamposite One "DMV" is inspired by the rare beauty found within the region of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Wale used rose gold as the primary color of the sneaker, which might represent the cherry blossoms that bloom in his hometown annually. The top of the shoe is black and has the letters "DMV" on the collar. He premiered the kicks in a commercial that accurately represents the rich culture of the area he grew up in.

His first-ever collaboration with Nike is a full-circle moment for Wale. It's also a sign of more new things to come in the "Nike Boots" rapper's life. Wale wore the crispy Foamposite's in the preview for his upcoming "Every Blue Moon Tour," which he announced last week. The clip shows him wearing a blue, DMV-inspired denim outfit with cherry blossoms on it. The tour is set to begin on September 19 in Fort Lauderdale and will hit other major cities across North America. Wale will wrap things up in Alabama on November 7.

Between new sneakers and an upcoming show, fans might be wondering if new music will follow. The last time Wale dropped an album was Folarin II in 2021. Even though he's dropped several collaborative songs in the past, Wale hasn't shared any new solo music since he dropped "Max Julien" last year. The new commercial for his Foamposite's features some fresh bars that reference his upcoming kicks. However, it's not clear if they're from an upcoming song.

Wale's Nike Air Foamposite One "DMV" sneakers drop this Friday, August 23. Check out the dates for the "Every Blue Moon Tour" below.
