Have you ever listened to a popular song and wondered why people enjoy it so much? Or maybe you've heard a track and thought "I really like this" only to then hear it playing on repeat so many times on the radio, in a commercial or even over the speakers at a grocery store that it loses its punch and in turn gets tiring. Whether personal taste or the notion of being "overplayed," different factors can impact how a listener views a song, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a fair interpretation of the track itself.

Give It A Chance encourages listeners to set aside preconceived notions of "famously despised" songs in order to look at it with new eyes and "open minds" and explore the "why" behind the negative attitude. On each episode of the podcast, hosts Kevin Devine and Casey Jost use their musical expertise to "break down the good, the bad, and the ugly" of both the lyrics and the music behind a track while giving their first impressions as well as insight into the industry at the time each song came out.

On the August 15 episode , Devine and Jost changed things up and analyzed to two songs from the latest group on their list: Imagine Dragons . The duo listened to the band's 2012 breakout hit "Radioactive" as well as the 2017 track "Believer" in an effort to determine why some people might not enjoy the songs.

"My disclaimer is that I think they seem like really awesome people," Jost said. "Like I have a lot of buddies that like love this band."

While speaking about "Radioactive," Devine said the song was "theatrical" and built for live performance.

"One of the great rock and roll traditions is that there are artists who are great album artists, but I think so much of what has made rock music such a vibrant medium for so long is that it takes a leap live," he said. "The best rock music, you could say, is music that is like bracing and engaging in a way live that augments its experience on record. And I feel like, you know something like this, it's the drum sounds, the bass sounds, the dynamism, the way the chorus expands. It's built for that experience."

Past songs covered on the podcast include "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback , "Larger Than Life" by the Backstreet Boys , "Shape Of You" by Ed Sheeran , "Drops Of Jupiter" by Train and even The Sopranos theme song "Woke Up This Morning," to name a few.
